Book - It’s Not Always Right To Be Right
A Wiley International published autobiographical account of business and personal insight from 30 years of corporate experience.
Also included is commentary and critique from 17 leading international business experts - leaders of global industry, diplomacy and advocacy. I love diversity of thought and these contributors provide value added perspective that I am sure you will enjoy.
To give you a flavour of my writing style, I have included the book’s opening pages (purpose, introduction and contents) along with a quick excerpt from the first two chapters. I hope you will find these of interest and benefit.
Consultancy
A couple of things are very important to me when it comes to consulting and consulting services.
The first is that it must be value add and that it must make a difference to the individual or organisation in question. Good consultative practices change conversations and in turn, lead to changes in respective behaviour. As a former CEO, I expect this of others and as a consultant, I demand this of myself.
Secondly, relationships and specifically the depth of relationships (client and consultant) are critical for success. When someone genuinely cares about making another person or party better, they will proactively challenge and stretch them to new levels. This is only possible from positions of mutual trust. When this occurs, breakthrough and transformational can be a beautiful thing.
Although there are many facets to total business and leadership performance, I specialise and drive improvement within three core areas of industry focus:
Business transformation and turnaround (the one page strategic plan)
Cultural Brilliance (behavioural metrics with accountability)
Inspirational Leadership (including High Performance Team planning)

Keynote speaking
Speaking engagements need to inspire, challenge and above all, ignite behavioural change within others.
Unless they do the above, they are a nice to have versus an essential. Although every speaking engagement will be tailor-made to the client in question, I have four primary areas of focus - as listed below. Please note that 20% of my speaking fees will go to a nominated charity of choice (client’s choice).
“It’s not always right to be right”
(leadership & personal lessons for enduring success)
“Lose to Learn - screw-up’s for success”
(lessons of insight from the benefit of failing)
“Constant Dissatisfaction”
(how to create a culture of breakthrough and creative innovation)
“Slow, Boring, Dated”
(3 words and eight concepts that corporations need to be told)
